Spring Check List

1.  Roof:

• Shingles Missing
• Are your valleys clean
• Any visible damage on chimney
• Is your chimney cap still on
• Are your gutters clean and ready for the Spring rains

2.  Exterior:  Brick, Siding, and Soffits

• Are the mortar joints in good condition
• Do you have any loose bricks
• Are your down spouts secure
• Are your down spouts directing the water away from your foundation
• Any sagging spots on soffits
• If soffits are not vinyl, do they need painted
• Any holes in your vinyl siding that would allow rain and bugs to get in

3. Windows:

• Do they need painted

• If you have older windows, is the glazing in good shape…..not cracked or falling out
• Do they need re-caulked
• If you have storm windows, are they in good  working condition
• Do the screens have holes in them

4.  Doors:

• Is the weather stripping still in good condition
• Does it need painted or re-caulked
• Do the screens have any holes
• How does the threshold look…is it torn or missing

5. Foundation:

• Do you have any missing mortar in the joints
• Are your vents in good shape
• Do you have any holes in the screens
• Make sure to open vents…weather permitting, or have automatic ones installed
• Is the ground sloping away from your foundation
• Are your bushes trimmed back away from the siding to allow air movement
• Is your sump pump in working order

6.  Garage Doors:

• How is the weather stripping around the outside and the bottom of the door
• Does it open and close properly
• Does the opener operate properly
• Is the release pull reachable

7.  Sidewalks and Steps:

• Are there any large cracks that need filled
• Are your steps safe
• Are your hand rails secure

8.  Extras:

• Driveway—if concrete or asphalt, are there any cracks that need filled or patched
• Mailbox—is it secure or still standing
• Are your outside lights in working order
